17 years have passed since 2004 when we had a fantastic intuition and the fair was able to start a dialogue and a collaboration with the territory, a common thread among the bookfairs. A collaboration with the institutions, but also with different cultural realities which work the whole year for the promotion of books, reading and culture in the broad sense, even if sometimes they are not under the spotlight. A collaboration especially with people living on the territory, with a particular focus on the outskirts. Salone Off will be again this year the party of books with authors: hundreds of appointments, meeting with authors, readings, film screenings, concerts, theatre performances, laboratories for kids, exhibitions, seminars, debates, dj sets, workshops. More than 200 places: 8 districts and more than 20 municipalities involved both from the urban area and the Piedmont region for a wide program. Salone Off will reach libraries, bookstores, theatres, old factories, clubs, streets and squares, neighbourhood associations, museums, galleries, cemeteries, hospitals, historical (and not) cafes, shopping malls, shops, parks and gardens, prisons, metro stations.
Pagine in corsia is back at its fourth edition and the number of hospitals participating will increase. Waiting rooms, wards and halls of some hospitals and residential homes will offer moments of reading at loud for patients and their families. A project realised with Biblioteche Civiche Torinesi, thanks to the volunteers of Fondazione Circolo dei Lettori and national civil service, civil volunteers and the project Senior Civico of Città di Torino and those from the Associazione Coordinamento Para-tetraplegici del Piemonte. Voltapagina, the initiative that since 2007 brings writers to Turin and Piedmont prisons has been confirmed. A project showing civil and social commitment that has been addressed to prisoners of almost all prisons for fourteen years and has led them to focus on the authors present at the fair. Prisoners will have the chance to meet these authors during an open-air event open to the public. The project will involve again almost all the prisons of Piedmont in the name of book. It is worth mentioning the well-established collaboration with the national literary award “Emanuele Casalini” reserved to prisoners.
