Rights, democracy, solidarity, gender issues, environment, education: these are the issues addressed within the space for schools and children..
Tens of thousands of kids and young people visit every year the book fair. Bookstock Village is meant for all young people and this year will move to Pavilion 2. The heart of the fair will be the new house of kids and youths, schools and teachers, families and people interested. Bookstock Village is a great laboratory realised thanks to the support of Compagnia di San Paolo where writers, illustrators, cartoonists, intellectuals meet their young readers. It is also a place where you can experiment science, digital, see illustrations of the most influent international authors and express their artistic creativity. It is a place where young people can find dedicated services and where teachers can meet and discuss with authors and experts about education and in particular about reading education.
The theme of this new edition: Il gioco del mondo – the world’s game; a game made of coexistence, integration, growth, friendship and that in the last years seems to have been stopped. For this reason, it is important to meet each other at Salone Internazionale del Libro from the 9th to the 13th of May and discuss about the world we would like to live in, in the future.
Bookstock Village is embellished by the magnificent set up Saltare i confini... tra terra e cielo (To overcome borders… between earth and sky) by the Education Department of Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art.
Great authors for young readers
This year the program for young readers had to be in line with the general theme of this 32nd edition: by playing kids learn, growth and laugh. Cortázar would agree with us by saying that adults have a lot to learn from youths. Therefore, thanks to words and images of some of the best Italian and international authors, young people will play with the world, finding out its game.
Some previews: this edition will have as its guest not a country, but a language. A group of Spanish speaking authors and illustrators will be hosted, one for all Luis Sepúlveda, with a travel that starting from Story of a Seagull and the Cat who taught her to fly tells us about his unforgettable characters for children. And then, besides ten laboratories of Bookstock Village, many appointments for people of all ages, from Nicoletta Costa for children, to a conference on the migration issue with Pietro Bartolo, a doctor from Lampedusa and the journalist Annalisa Camilli. Furthermore, Giacomo Mazzariol interviewed by kids, two debates on Italian language with some of the most important professors and experts (Marazzini, Patota, Della Valle, Antonelli), during the day of Friday for Future, a great meeting on the environment respect with Luca Mercalli and Gianumberto Accinelli. You should still wait a bit to have the definitive program, but from the 8th of April you will be able to book meetings and laboratories.

Bookstock Village will host many laboratories with a focus on doing and experimenting: from art to illustration, in order to get to science, passing through writing, comics and meetings with authors.
Kids will have their say. The program for teenagers
We need to create an alliance with youths to share questions, solutions, glances. For this reason, many young people, aged between 13 and 18, members of different reading groups will come to Turin to present books they edited, to interview authors and, in general to take the floor. From Rimini to Ferrara, from Milan to Foggia, from Pordenone to Turin, they will be at Lingotto as authors and readers. And booksellers. In fact, the Bookshop for Children will be flanked by a Bookshop for teenagers which will host a selection of books conceived by them and for them. A bookshop where teenagers and adults will advise their peers on books, but not only. A space for teachers and parents to discover what young people read.
Educare alla scrittura
For the third year, after having involved almost 1,000 teachers in the last edition, we propose again, the refresher course recognised by Miur for teachers, librarians and educators, Educare alla scrittura (Reading education), in collaboration with CEPELL – The Centre for Books and Reading of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. A 20-hour program schedule, with great international authors and experts from the education world.
